Peace.

I'm Common and I'm here to do a Google autocomplete interview.
0:15
Are we good to go?
0:11
Is Common bad at anything?
0:11
Yes, I'm bad at a lot of things.
0:15
I'm definitely not a good cook.
0:18
I actually don't know how to cut hair even though I look like I knew how to cut hair in Barbershop.
0:26
What else can I do?
0:26
I can't play chess really good.
0:29
And I'm not a good liar either.
0:29
I probably got some a lot more things I could tell you about, but we got more questions.
0:36
Is Common going for the EGOT?
0:39
Yes, I am going for the EGOT.
0:42
That's a great question because I want to put that out there in the atmosphere.
0:53
First of all, I'm super grateful to have an Oscar award and a Grammy award, but it would be incredible for me to achieve an Emmy award and a Tony Award, and I'm going for it.
0:53
Is Common from the Midwest?
1:03
Yes, I'm from Chicago, Illinois, born and raised.
1:08
Barbershop: The Next Cut takes place in Chicago.
1:13
So, I'm very happy to be a part of that because it's one of the first films that I got to be a part of that represents where I'm from.
1:10
So yeah, I'm from the shop.
1:18
What is Common's biggest annoyance?
1:22
To be honest, my biggest annoyance is when people have a job and they don't know how to do the job well.
1:29
That's annoying to me.
1:29
What is Common's favorite food?
1:31
I would say it's between pizza and I love French fries.
1:35
So, those probably would be two of my favorite foods.
1:37
And popcorn.
1:37
Popcorn is something that I really love.
1:40
What is Common's charity named?
1:42
It's called the Common Ground Foundation.
1:45
If you want to support, go check out commongroundfoundation.org and spread some love.
1:53
Where did Common get his name?
1:53
It's funny talking about myself in third person.
1:53
I actually chose my name.
2:17
I was at college.
2:21
My mother used to always say, "Use common sense. Use common sense."
2:21
One day, I was just sitting around.
2:21
And I was trying to think of a name and my friends were smoking something that they call Cincy, which is a form of weed.
2:21
For some reason, the name Common Sense just came up to me.
2:21
I was like, "It's got to be a dope rap name."
2:19
So really, my name was Common Sense.
2:25
And then there was a group that had the name, so I had to shorten it to Common.
2:25
At first, I was real pissed off about it because the group had the name, and I had already come out with two albums.
2:30
But now I'm happy because I feel like I'm the everyday people's artist.
2:35
So Common fits.
2:40
Where did Common have his first job?
2:39
Well, my first job was like doing janitorial work at this nursery school.
2:43
I had to clean up mornings before I went to school and then clean up some at night after school.
2:51
And my last job since I've been an artist was I used to sort out parking tickets for the city.
2:57
And that was a terrible job.
3:01
That was one of the things that made me be like, "Man, I want to, I got to go pursue my dream because I didn't want to do sorting out parking tickets."
3:08
Doesn't sound good, does it?
3:08
Even our camera guy's shaking his head.
3:08
Where did Common first meet President Obama?
3:08
One of our first conversations was at this parade in Chicago called the Bud Billiken Parade.
3:08
This was around 2006.
3:08
And in fact, one of my albums had just come out and he told me he just bought the album.
3:08
So that's when I first got a chance to really build with the president.
3:08
And he's always been cool ever since.
3:08
I love him.
3:08
So that's where I first met the president.
