To open it. Yeah, this ain't good.
0:02
I don't know what I've even got this.
0:04
It's like my mum's purple.
0:06
Look how bad that is, airbrush.
0:11
Oh, but this ain't recorded, is it?
0:08
Is this recording?
0:11
What's up GQ?
0:16
I'm Declan Rice, and these are my 10 essential items.
0:21
Football boots, something I can't live without, can't do my job without.
0:24
And these boots here are my favorite boots of all time.
0:28
Old school Predators, accelerators, worn by famous David Beckham.
0:31
I can't describe when I look at this boot what you feel like.
0:36
They don't make football boots like this anymore.
0:37
You know, growing up, these were the boots that were around.
0:40
These are what my brothers used to wear and as obviously as I've got older, they become harder and harder to get, so they have to make remakes.
0:45
These are actually the originals, but at the moment I just wear these in train and I want to keep them fresh, they're in good condition so and they're really hard to get now and expensive so yeah.
0:53
What's the biggest influence in football?
0:59
Of course Beckham's one being, you know, who he is, a massive idol for this country.
1:15
What he'd done for England, the caps he got, you know, what he achieved in his career, he's an icon.
1:15
Also one of my favorites growing up was John Terry.
1:15
Always wanted to do what, you know, he'd done on a football pitch, I tried to replicate him.
1:15
And, you know, now I've got a good relationship with him off the pitch, it's it's pretty surreal, you know, because of what he's done for Chelsea and we've done for England as well.
1:23
My next essential item, and these are essential, are my favorite sweets, Squashies.
1:28
As soon as we finish this, these are getting open and I'm eating them.
1:31
They just taste so good and just a big lover for sweets, to be honest with you.
1:36
You can see my face talking about sweets, it's just um, yeah, it's a big craving of mine.
1:39
I won't eat these every day so when I when I do have a missile, it's like a little treat to me.
1:43
Before games, there's actually sweets around the change room you can have.
1:46
Sometimes I'll pick up a handful of them and we'll have some before the game.
1:52
I've got a two-fake, that's what I've got them in it.
1:55
I love Skittles as a kid and then as I got older, they started to bring out more and more flavors of our sour packet.
2:01
When you go to America, there's like this purple packet you can get as well which is just, they're unbelievable.
2:06
I'll tell you what, you've got to try and do for people watching, you've got to put a load in your mouth at once, chew them all together and then you get like a little ball of Skittles and it tastes so good.
2:14
I sound like an experience, get all here.
2:14
My next essential, my hat.
2:14
Obviously, this is one of many.
2:14
With this hat, I just like the look of it, I like the print of it at the front, white and black as well, which goes with everything.
2:14
Since I've kind of growing my hair long, I've been wearing my hats backwards all the time, you know, I just prefer that look at the minute.
2:14
No, I don't think it would fit on my head side, it wouldn't fit.
2:14
Look, imagine walking out like that, that's impossible.
2:14
Even just the feel of it like, nah, I could never do that ever.
2:14
If I ever wore a hat out like that, I'd expect one of my friends to just tap it off me or something.
2:14
Just just keep it back to front and keep it simple, that's how I do it.
2:14
My next essential item is my phone, something I can't live without, even though it can be annoying, I'm always on it.
2:14
It's just, you know, my life, social media, business, work, who's have my family contact me, my friends contact me, you know, if I didn't have my phone, I'd, yeah, I don't know what I'll do, to be honest with you.
2:14
What's your screen time?
3:25
It's bad.
3:26
It is bad.
3:26
I don't want to go into that because I've been getting, haven't?
3:28
It's actually funny, it's a funny story because at football, we all sit there around the table, we've got, what's your screen time, what's your screen time and we sit there and work it out.
3:37
And even one of the boys last year had to delete Instagram because his screen time on Instagram was so bad.
3:37
But yeah, my screen time is bad.
3:37
Been collecting watches for years now, it's a big hobby of mine, a big passion.
3:37
I've got some some funky watches, to be fair, with a rose gold, gold still kind of mix and match it with anything.
3:37
I don't specifically match a color with an outfit, if I like the watch, I'll I'll just wear the watch.
3:37
Something I can't live without for sure, obviously with what I'm doing as a profession, I need to dip into it every time after training, after games and obviously whilst I'm at home as well, so I need this, I need this on me every day.
3:37
Oh no, just open it, yeah, you're saying good.
3:37
I don't know why I've even got this.
3:37
It's like my mum's purple.
3:37
Look how bad that is, airbrush.
3:37
Oh, but this ain't recorded, is it?
3:37
Is this recording?
3:37
It'd have to be my aftershave, it would have to be.
4:36
It's so nice, such a nice smell when I'm a big big fan of aftershave, so I feel like this is an essential item in my wash bag because of course you want to smell good.
4:43
What's your grooming routine before going to a football match?
4:46
I used to do my hair and everything in the hotel before we traveled to a match and then one of the games last season at the start of the season, I'd left my hair because I started to wear a hat a little bit more so I started to do my hair at games.
4:57
And then it's kind of been like a little bit of a ritual for me now just to do it, you know, in the sink, in the changing room.
5:02
So for me, I always get to the stadium, do what I need to do and then about 20 minutes before I go out, I'll go in and do my hair.
5:10
PlayStation controller, of course, FIFA.
5:13
That's the main one that gets really competitive, Ultimate Team's my main one, I like to to go on there, I like to put some money into it.
5:19
Just the excitement of, you know, opening packs, I've been in players, building your team, it's exciting, you know, and you get to play against other players' teams.
5:25
The beauty of being a football, you get your own player card, which is like 99 rated and everything, so when you're coming up against someone else, they know it's you playing.
5:37
So if you lose sometimes and you rage quit, it's not good because you'll get a message that I've just beat you.
5:38
But yeah, and the Ultimate Team's the main one for me when I play FIFA.
5:41
The best player at West Ham is Jarrod Bowen, by far.
5:47
He plays every weekend thing called Weekend League, he's so good.
5:47
The worst, I'm gonna have to say Michail Antonio.
5:47
He's he thinks he's good, but I've beat him a couple times.
5:47
He's really competitive, a lot of talk, but I'm gonna have to say he's the worst.
5:47
I'm a massive trainer collector.
5:47
I recently got a pair of the Virgil Abloh Nike Air Forces, like Louis Vuitton collab.
6:08
I've not worn them yet, I don't think I'm gonna ever wear them, to be honest with you.
6:13
They're in a nice box, you know, they're so special because he passed away, so I don't think I'm going to wear them at all.
6:19
I think I'm going to keep them fresh and I think that'd be my only pet that I will never wear.
6:22
What's your style tips on the trainers?
6:27
Like these, you couldn't wear these with a suit in my opinion, a nice pair of trousers or, you know, nice tracksuit you can wear these with.
6:30
I feel like with more chunkier trainers, which I've more kind of gotten into over the last one or two years, I I like to wedding with like a baggy or oversized um Jean just because they sit nicer on top of the shoe for luck with these.
6:42
You couldn't really wear skinny jeans with them, it just looked too, I can't explain it, it just wouldn't look good.
6:46
For me, the beauty of golf is there's so many different shops you can play and you're constantly learning.
6:54
It's just such a special sport and it's somewhere where I can go and switch off away from a football pitch, somewhere I can, you know, socialize with my friends, with my dad, with my brothers, have fun, be competitive, try to get better at.
7:06
There's just so many things that I love about golf and last couple of years I've really took it on and yeah, I really enjoyed playing golf.
7:13
I tried to play as much as possible, playing off 12 currently, which is actually very good, for me anyway.
7:35
Two years ago, I I wasn't even playing on a golf course, I used to go up the range and, you know, I used to go and have a laugh with my friends.
7:35
When I first started playing, I was off about 24, but now I've come down to 12, so I'm really enjoying my golf, but I'm competitive, so I'm trying to get to single figures now.
7:35
I'd have to say the person that always beats me is probably always my dad.
7:35
It's as frustrating as it is, we're probably the same hank, yeah, we are the same handicap.
7:42
He is just a typical, you know, old golfer, hits it low, but hits it straight and not very far, but it's just very good at getting around the golf course and, you know, I like to try and play aggressive, so that's why he always beats me and he always winds me off about it, which isn't good.
8:02
And also someone I always beat is my brother Jordan, he's a cheat.
8:02
He loves to cheat on the golf course.
8:06
He's one of them, he'll hit it into the woods, says he can't find his board and I'll see him like dropping the ball to say he's found it.
8:13
He's one of them once, um, I always wind him up about it, to be fair, but he's also a very good golfer, but he's not better than me.
8:21
That was it.
8:21
Thank you for watching, hope you enjoy.
